MACOG is located in South Bend, Indiana just south of the Michigan state line. The area is 45 minutes from Lake Michigan, 1 ½ hours from downtown Chicago, and three hours from Indianapolis. The region boasts of more than fifteen colleges and universities, including the University of Notre Dame, Saint Marys College, and Indiana University. The region includes Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St. Joseph Counties with a regional population of more than 567,000 people.
The Michiana Area Council of Governments seeks a Regional Planner to support its economic development, transit, bike/pedestrian, clean air, public participation and regional land use planning activities. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to prepare, research and administer grants. The position requires a solid knowledge of geographic information system software and tools, visualization, presentation and office document development software. Regional planning agency seeks full-time GIS Network Model Technician to support planning programs and projects through GIS mapping and travel demand forecasting. The position requires advanced GIS skills. Duties involve research, data collection, analysis, report/grant preparation, map generation, computer network modeling and other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
