AmeriCorps Featured Members - Esai Hernandez

We are pleased to feature Esai Hernandez, who joined us this summer for an impactful AmeriCorps term with the Shirley Heinze Land Trust. Here is what Esai had to say about his service:

“Hi, I'm Esai Hernandez a Junior Business Management student at Valparaiso University. This summer I served as the Conservation Signage and Trail Management Assistant at Shirley Heinze Land Trust where I created a Standard Operating Procedure for signage and installed temporary signage at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve.”

Why did you join AmeriCorps?/How did you hear about the AmeriCorps opportunity?

I joined AmeriCorps because it was different from something in my field of study. I heard about this opportunity through Shirley Heinze Land Trust.

What was one impactful project, memory, or experience from your term of service?

One impactful experience was getting to work alongside other students from Valparaiso University.

What is next for you professionally?

Next, I will hopefully get a more business oriented internship next summer.
