AmeriCorps Featured Members - Faith Aurand
We are pleased to feature Faith Aurand, who joined us this summer for an impactful AmeriCorps term with the Shirley Heinze Land Trust. Here is what Faith had to say about her service:
Why did you join AmeriCorps?/How did you hear about the AmeriCorps opportunity?
I heard about the AmeriCorps opportunity through Shirley Heinze Land Trust. I thought that it was a great program that would allow me to learn and help others and that is why I applied!
What was one impactful project, memory, or experience from your term of service?
During my time of service, I was able to help kick off a bridge project at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve. Through this project I was able to use and learn more about my AutoCad skills to create a design for a bridge that needed to be rebuilt. This was a very impactful experience because I learned more skills and I will be able to go back and walk the bridge one day!
What is next for you professionally?
My next steps in my professional career are to continue studying and pursuing my civil engineering degree at Purdue University.
Thank you, Faith, for your service!
